September 8, 2025 - Funfly Eastern Shore in the
Super Decathelon

Nhu-An offered me the use of her Super Decathelon while my plane is down for maintenace.  So Brian checked me out in the Super D last week and today, on an absolutely perfect flying day, I did a funfly in the Super D.

First, I did the obligatory status check of the Key Bridge.

Yes, absolutely no work has started on rebuilding the bridge,  The bridge went down on 26 March 2024.  So it's been almost a year and a half and work hasn't even started.  Your State of Maryland government at work.

Then I flew across the Bay to Rock Hall and marked on top Waterman's Crab House.

Heading north up the Eastern Neck with the Bay at upper left and Chester River on the right.

The winds are light, the air is smooth, visibility is excellent, not a cloud in the sky, but not too hot.  It's a perfect day for flying.

Still heading north at 500 feet.   This is always a pretty area to fly.

Now heading up the Chester River proper.

Autumn is beginning to make an appearance.

Rounding a bend in the Chester River containing this fabulous estate.

The Chester Rivdr narrows.

What's the deal with that color?

The Chester River ended and I continued on to Massey Aerodrome, where I did four touch and goes.  I'm still getting the hang of landing the Super D.

Heading south down the Eastern Shore of the Bay.  I was struck by the glistening trail behind that boat, like a stream of diamonds.

Approaching "The Road".

On downwind at Essex Skypark.  Fun flight.  I enjoy flying the Super D.  It has much more pep than our old Citabria did, plus it rolls much better.  Of course, it doesn't have the speed of the RV, that goes without saying.  But I'll say it anyway!
